WILLEMSTAD - During a special meeting of the Central Organized Consultation in Civil Service Affairs (CGOA) at Naval Base Parera, the government and the government unions signed a covenant on Monday 7 February to formalize the job descriptions and job evaluations of the civil servants working at the support centers of the Coast Guard in Curaçao. This means that the formation of Coastguard personnel working on Curaçao has been formalized. Several guests were also present on this occasion.
The covenant was signed on behalf of the government by Minister Ornelio ('Kid') Martina of Administration, Planning and Services (BPD) and the government unions STrAF, ABVO, NAPB, SAP and SITEK, which are united in the Central Committee of Trade Unions (CCvV). Both Minister Martina and Mr Abrahamsz (STrAF), who had been appointed as spokesperson for the CCvV especially for this occasion, emphasized the importance of formalizing the legal position of coastguard personnel.
CGOA chairman Richard Begina congratulated the parties on this important step and Coastguard Director Frank Boots expressed his appreciation for the fact that the parties, after years of negotiations, have come together and have signed the agreement together.
