Government can proceed with wage cuts without consultation and with retroactive effect

Local | By Correspondent September 30, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - The government is allowed to introduce wage cuts because of the corona crisis. Also, retroactively. That says the Advisory Board (RvA).

According to the Council, this is an exceptional circumstance and the law provides for measures to be taken in the public interest. Even without this being discussed in the civil service consultation.

The Advisory Board does not comment on the way in which the government wants to cut civil servant salaries.
