WILLEMSTAD - The government of Curaçao is making 25 million guilders available to Hospital Nobo Otrobanda (HNO), the new hospital in Otrabanda to ensure that the opening of the new hospital will take place at the end of 2019.
The government said that with these funds most urgent matters can be taken care of, until other financing is provided. When this financing is complete, they will get their 25 million guilders back.
The construction of HNO is in the final phase, in which, among other things, the medical equipment are installed. For this, experts from abroad must be flown in, for which agreements were made months ago. Canceling these agreements can result in fines. Moreover, new agreements will only be made again in 2020, the government explained. The so-called "Health Care Information Exchange" (HiX) is also installed.
The staff is preparing for the use of equipment and HiX, as well as for functioning in the new structure of Curaçao Medical Center (CMC).
"It is important that these processes continue in parallel until the hospital opens at the end of this year," the government said.
