WILLEMSTAD - The Council of Ministers reached an agreement last week on the nomination of a new financial director for the housing association Fundashon Kas Popular (FKP). This is confirmed by Minister Charles Cooper of Traffic, Transport, and Urban Planning.
The agreement will be submitted to the Foundation Bureau for Supervision and Standardization of Government Entities (SBTNO). Cooper previously held back the appointment of the new CFO.
For example, the minister asked critical questions about the candidate's Dutch origin. Cooper wondered why no Curaçao citizen was nominated for the position.
The statements were met with much criticism. In a statement, he said he had never opposed the nomination. “I just said I had questions about how things were going. As a minister, I have the authority to ask questions.”
The appointment of the new director is expected to be finalized in about three weeks.
