Government refuses to disclose documents Insel Air

Local | By Correspondent March 10, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - Journalist Yves Cooper is not allowed access to documents of Insel Air International BV. Cooper filed a LOB request (National Ordinance Open Government), but the government refuses to disclose the documents. Lawyer Achim Henriquez will go to court on behalf of the journalist.

Cooper wants to view the permit that was granted to Insel Air at the time and the result of the investigation by the Dutch Human Environment and Transport Inspectorate (ILT).

The journalist also wants to see the loan agreement that was entered into between the government and Insel Air at the time. The government refuses to disclose matters, which should be expected with a LOB request.

According to the Ministry of Traffic, Transport and Spatial Planning (VVRP), there would be 'close interdependence between factual information and personal policy views'.

Henriquez says that VVRP is reluctant to release the documents. He has sent a petition to the Court of First Instance stating that the information must be provided.
