WILLEMSTAD - As of January 1, 2022, the Curaçao government will again reinstate the so-called Compulsory Education Unit. This is according to the Minister of Education Sithree van Heydoorn in response to Parliamentary questions.
Compulsory education officers will be much more likely to be physically present at schools in the new calendar year in order to enforce statutory compulsory education. The minister has removed certain tasks from a group of civil servants to make time for school visits. The inspection team has also been expanded with three employees.
