GPs win lawsuit against SVB

Local | By Correspondent August 23, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - General Practitioners are not obliged to retire at 65. This is evident from a court decision. The Social Insurance Bank (SVB) no longer wants to reimburse the care of general practitioners who have reached retirement age. According to the judge, that is not possible. Current law makes no distinction based on age.

Many general practitioners depend on the SVB. 90 percent of their patients are SVB insured. The doctors are therefore afraid that they will no longer be able to make ends meet if SVB cancels the collaboration. Most general practitioners have not built up a pension.
