WILLEMSTAD - Guus Hiddink returns as technical director of the Curaçao football selection. Sources indicate that Hiddink is in talks with the FFK football association. This has been reported by the Papiamento morning newspaper Extra and the FFK confirmed to the Dutch news site NU.cw that the negotiations with Hiddink are in the final phase.
In August 2020, Hiddink signed a contract as national coach of the Curaçao national team up to and including the World Cup in Qatar. Patrick Kluivert was appointed as interim national coach in May 2021, after Hiddink became infected with the corona virus. As soon as Curaçao was eliminated in the preliminary rounds of the World Cup, the Football Association and Hiddink decided to terminate the contract.
According to the morning newspaper, 75-year-old trainer is now returning to Curaçao as technical director. For the trainer position, Kluivert's name would be mentioned in the corridors.
