WILLEMSTAD - The Movementu Antia Nobo ('Movement for a New Antilles') MAN has a new name. The political party has recently been renamed Movementu Alsa Nashon ('Movement Elevating the Nation') and will therefore continue to use the same abbreviation.
"With the new interpretation of the abbreviation MAN, the party wants to emphasize that the members are on the way to uplift the Curaçao community as a nation and to help it forward with high-quality care areas within the public sector," says party chairman Yves Schoop.
According to Schoop, it is about increasing the sense of community, a resilient economy, improvement of the financial situation and the treasury, social development and social justice, better healthcare, infrastructure, and housing.
Schoop says that the party also aims to promote nation building and patriotism and to better propagate Curaçao as a nation, both locally and internationally.
The Movementu Antia Nobo M.A.N. with a social-democratic signature was founded in 1971. In 2005, the party decided during a congress to eliminate the full name and the dots disappeared. The party congress was already supposed to choose a new name at the beginning of September, but that was canceled due to the corona crisis.
