WILLEMSTAD - On Sunday, 25 January 2026, a special meeting held at the World Trade Center Curaçao marked a moment of quiet significance for Papiamentu-speaking congregations. The presentation of the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures in Papiamentu was not introduced with spectacle, but with clarity, gratitude, and deep respect for God’s Word.
As the Bible was formally presented, the audience responded with a prolonged and heartfelt applause. In that sustained moment, it became clear that the appreciation went beyond the publication itself. It was gratitude for access—access to the Scriptures in a language that allows meaning to reach the heart naturally.
A total of 4,380 people were connected to the event, including 1,680 present at the WTC, with others linked from Curaçao, Aruba, Bonaire, the Netherlands, and additional groups. Though spread across different locations, all were united by the same purpose: gaining a clearer understanding of God’s message.
During the presentation, attention was drawn to the care invested in producing this translation. The work is the result of more than ten years of anonymous research and translation, based directly on the original biblical languages—Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. In addition, the translators consulted newly discovered and carefully preserved biblical manuscripts, comparing them with established textual evidence to ensure accuracy and faithfulness to the original message.
No artificial intelligence was used. Instead, the process relied on meticulous textual analysis, cross-referencing ancient sources, and consulting established translations. All of this was done while rendering the Scriptures into clear, natural Papiamentu, respecting its grammar, phonology, and rhythm as spoken in Curaçao.
The structure of the Bible itself quietly reinforces an important assurance. Its contents, introductions, appendices, maps, and explanatory material show that Jehovah’s purpose is revealed progressively throughout the entire Scriptures. Those who sincerely wish to understand His will and benefit from His guidance are encouraged to read both the Hebrew Scriptures and the Greek Scriptures, which together form one unified and coherent message.
The Hebrew Scriptures lay the foundation by revealing Jehovah’s identity, standards, promises, and purpose for mankind. The Greek Scriptures build on that foundation, showing how those promises are fulfilled and clarified through Jesus Christ and the Christian congregation. Rather than replacing one another, both parts work together to help sincere readers gain a complete understanding of God’s purpose.
