Hospital provides clarification on patient that was discharged last Monday

Local | By Press release October 7, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) regrets the confusion that arose when a patient was discharged from the hospital, when this patient could have stayed to continue elective surgery. The patient was discharged and told to quarantine, while this patient was not considered a potential COVID-19 risk and thus did not need to be quarantined.

An internal investigation showed that the patient has not been in contact with the patient who was infected with COVID-19 and was not in the room at the same time as the patient who tested positive for COVID-19.

CMC has contacted the patient in question to apologize and see how the miscommunication can be rectified. The specialist will make a new appointment with the patient as soon as possible to perform the surgery that was canceled earlier. CMC is investigating the incident in detail to avoid possible recurrence in the future.
