WILLEMSTAD - The management of the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) responded with surprise to a strike by the hospital staff. According to CMC, there is no dispute between them and the union or a conflict with one of their employees. The hospital says the employees cannot go on strike because of the "12.5%" wage cut, because no decision has been made yet.
According to the union, a meeting was held during working hours because the management of the hospital has not fulfilled agreements made during the transition. The union does not comment on what agreements these are.
The management says it is aware of the union's appeal to its members to stop working, but, as stated, wonders what the reason is.
The management of the hospital urges its employees to continue to ensure the well-being of the patients.
