WILLEMSTAD - The hospital in Otrabanda has pitched tents outside the building for traige purposes. Epidemiologist Dr. Izzy Gerstenbluth emphasizes this. The seriousness of complaints that people report having is examined. Triage aims to keep waiting times as short as possible and to ensure that a patient receives the right care at the right time from the right care provider.
Normally, the triage must take place at the GP, but the coordination of care between primary care, GPs and secondary care, the hospitals, leaves much to be desired. People often skip the doctor.
The tents at the hospital are therefore not for treatment. The epidemiologist calls on everyone to comply with the measures. Don't take to the streets if you don't have to, stay home. During the press conference, Eugene Rhuggenaath did indicate that the capacity of care in the hospital is reaching its limits.
