WILLEMSTAD - At an auction, the popular Hotel Otrabanda was sold for 12 million guilders to a group of local and international investors. The stake price of the auction at Notary Office Moerdijk & Palm at the request of the Girobank was 11 million guilders.
According to the spokesperson for the investors, the group has nice renovation plans for the hotel and casino. They will request a casino permit again at the Curaçao Gaming Control Board. Hotel Otrobanda has 45 rooms, while a minimum of 150 rooms are required to qualify for a casino license. But an exemption was granted to the hotel in November 2011 through an amendment to the Casino Law, just like San Marco and Trupial Inn, among others.
The group now becomes the owner of the leasehold until 2030 on a plot of land of 760 square meters on the corner of Breedestraat and De Rouvilleweg with the following: Hotel Otrobanda, restaurant Bahia Seafood and Steakhouse and Awasa Casino.
