Human Rights Caribbean Foundation regrets Knops response

Local | By Correspondent October 2, 2019

WILLEMSTAD - The Human Rights Caribbean Foundation thinks it is a shame that Undersecretary Raymond Knops of Kingdom Relations does not seem to want to make an effort for a better refugee policy in Curaçao.

With this, the foundation responds to a letter that Knops recently wrote to the First Chamber of the Dutch Parliament (Senate) about the refugee policy in Curaçao. He stated that the Netherlands did not intend to interfere with the refugee crisis in Curaçao.

According to the foundation, that is unfortunate, and much could be improved in areas such as the asylum procedure and the situation in the foreigners’ barracks located in the prison.
