Hunger strike in foreign barracks again

Local | By Correspondent May 31, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - Six refugees in the SDKK barracks have gone on hunger strike again. Human Rights Defense Curaçao (HRDC) reports this.

The reason for this is the appalling circumstances that are not improving. This situation has remained unchanged for years, despite many reports and reminders by international organizations and the Dutch government. According to Human Rights Defense Curaçao, the refugees have gone on a hunger strike since Thursday afternoon against arbitrariness, the long duration of being detained, the lack of information, and the nuisance of dust from construction work.
