WILLEMSTAD - Illegal car rental companies are no longer welcome at Hato Airport. Only the large and well-known car rental companies are allowed to pick up passengers from the airport.
Dozens of clandestine rental companies target Dutch tourists and interns and they do not follow the rules as prescribed by the airport authorities. The insurance papers are often not in order and a valid driver's license is not always requested.
The airport does not allow these companies and regularly issues fines.
