WILLEMSTAD - Residents of Ronde Klip are completely done with the illegal waste incineration in the area. This reports Stichting Uniek Curaçao on social media.
For more than two years, local residents have been trying to combat and denounce the illegal incineration and waste dumping in Ronde Klip. There would be a land owner in Ronde Klip who, for a fee, has waste dumped and incinerated on the site on a daily basis.
According to the foundation, the police are aware of who it is, which terrain it is and what is happening on that property, but no action is taken. The dump and burns cause a lot of nuisances. For many people the smoke and stench are unbearable, especially for people with asthmatic conditions.
After several reports to the X-Team and other government services, the residents will now have to start a process through the Public Prosecution Service to have the perpetrators stop the illegal practices.
