IMF delegation visits governor

Local | By Correspondent May 25, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - A delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) paid a visit to Governor Lucille George-Wout yesterday. During the visit, the Article IV mission from the IMF for 2022 was discussed, in which a thorough analysis of the economy and government policy is done.

Last year, IMF predicted that tourism in Curaçao would not reach pre-coronavirus levels until 2024. The IMF then recommended that agreements be reached with the Dutch government in order to secure further financial support.

On the other hand, the IMF was also critical of the Caribbean Reform and Development Agency (COHO) last year, because too strict measures could hinder Curaçao's economic growth.
