Increase passport tariff

Local | By Correspondent August 16, 2019

WILLEMSTAD - From now on, 200 guilders will be charged for issuing passports. That is one hundred guilders more expensive than before. People from 0 to 17 continue to pay 100 guilders. Parliament decided on this earlier this week.

The treatment of the change to the national ordinance for passport fees dates back to 2015. The main reason for the change is that the current rate would no longer cover costs, including the payment of 88 guilders to the Kingdom, the minister in charge, Armin Konket explained.

Earlier, Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath announced that a number of services offered by the government would increase in rates. According to the Prime Minister, it seemed that the services - with the rates that have been applied up to now - are being subsidized by the government instead of generating income from them.
