Insufficient money to tackle child abuse

Local | By Correspondent May 10, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - The government must give more money to the fight against child abuse. This is according to the umbrella organization, the Federation of Antillean Youth Care. In recent years, less and less money has been spent on the authorities involved.

In addition, according to the federation, child abuse has increased during the corona crisis. Most of the findings of the youth care federation are also included in a shadow report from the United Nations on children's rights on our island. With the extra funds, sexual abuse must be tackled, among other things, and the organizations must cooperate better with each other.
