International School Curaçao closed due to Covid-19

Local | By Correspondent December 7, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao International School (ISC) has decided to close its doors after it appears that an employee has tested positive for Covid 19. Parents have been informed of the case and the closure by letter.

It concerns an employee whose position requires regular mobility on campus, the school reports. According to the management, this employee has always worn a mask at school.

Still, the management does not want to take any risks and since the semester is almost over, it has been decided to close the school and switch to distance education. Teachers will prepare the teaching materials on Monday and Tuesday and give parents the opportunity to collect them via the so-called 'curb-side pick-up'.

Last week there was another case of Covid at the International School. That was with a high school student. The school, together with the student, has checked his contacts and has informed everyone who has been in the vicinity of the student.

According to the management, it was a small list. In addition, the teachers and students wear face masks and keep their distance in the classroom. Despite these precautions, the management wanted to make sure there was no contamination in the school.

The High School section has already closed last week. Distance education has also been adopted there. The exams start on Wednesday and these will also be held virtually. The International School will reopen after the January holidays.
