THE HAGUE, PHILIPSBURG - The standing committees for Kingdom Relations of the Dutch Senate and House of Representatives will participate in the Interparliamentary Kingdom Consultation (IPKO) in Sint Maarten from Wednesday to Friday. The delegations of the Parlilaments of Aruba, Curaçao and Sint Maarten meet there on topics that concern the countries of the Kingdom.

The parliaments meet twice a year to deliberate. This IPKO was previously planned in January, but has been postponed to May due to the corona virus. The IPKO agenda includes discussions about the COHO Kingdom Act, the situation regarding the implementation of the country packages and better and sustainable relations within the Kingdom.

The Parliament of Sint Maarten also organizes a working visit as part of the IPKO. During the working visit, a number of projects will be visited in the context of reconstruction after hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017.

Attention is also paid to the prison system of Sint Maarten. The Ministry of Justice will give a presentation on the plans to rebuild and improve the prison and the delegations will also visit the Point Blanche prison.
