"Investing parking money in a free Wi-Fi network"

Local | By Correspondent February 24, 2021

WILLEMSTAD - Willemstad Parking Benefit District bv (PBD) wants to use the proceeds from parking fees in the city center to build a free Wi-Fi network in the city center.

This would be the first step towards a so-called "smart city". PBD is one of the three parties that is interested in the exploitation of the public car parks in Punda and Otrobanda. The other two parties are Securitas Antias and Parking Authority Curaçao.

PBD says it wants to use a customer-friendly parking system to install a good-quality free WiFi network. Later, the company also plans to install parking guidance systems, light sensors for lampposts and security cameras.
