THE HAGUE - The Inter-Parliamentary Kingdom Consultation (IPKO) ended yesterday without decision-making.
Delegations from the parliaments of Curaçao, the Netherlands, Aruba and Sint Maarten held a virtual meeting on Wednesday and Thursday. This mainly involved discussions. No decisions or agreements have been made. The parliamentarians discussed the vaccination campaigns and the consequences of the corona pandemic for the various countries.
In view of the blow that the Caribbean countries have received by the disappearance of tourism, everyone is convinced that work must be done in the future on diversifying the economies.
Another point that came up during the first IPKO of this year is that connections between the countries of the Kingdom must be improved, for example through cooperation between aviation companies.
Care could also benefit from more cooperation at the Kingdom level. The parliamentarians have also indicated that they want to consult each other more than twice a year, either virtually or in person.
