Isla has to pay more than 24 million to CRU for storage

Local | By Correspondent December 11, 2020

WILLEMSTAD - Refineria Isla Curaçao has to pay more than 24 million guilders to the CRU, the Curaçao Refinery Utilities.

At the beginning of this year, the CRU took over the oil installations from the Venezuelan company PdVSA (Isla). But the contents of the tanks remained the property of Isla. CRU sent an invoice every month for the storage of those oil products. But Isla refused to pay.

The parties went to court, which has now ruled in favor of CRU. The bill must simply be paid.

The verdict allows CRU to sell the oil products in the tanks to settle Isla's debt.
