Italian Consul visits Curaçao and Aruba

Local | By Press release February 15, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - After almost seven years, an Italian consul who currently is stationed in Maracaibo, Venezuela, has visited the islands of Aruba and Curaçao. Together with two officers of the consulate, Dr. Aniello Petito came with the main purpose of assisting the Italian community and paying a courtesy visit to the local authorities.

The visit started in Curaçao where he met Mrs. Kathryn Pruneti, honorary consul of Italy in Willemstad. During a long working day at the WTC in Curaçao and the Hyatt Place in Aruba, many Italian residents had the opportunity to meet the consul and his collaborators. Most people came to renew their passports and reacquire their Italian citizenship.

The visits to the authorities, with the assistance of the Directors of Foreign Affair Offices, were short but pleasant and on both islands, one of the topics of conversation was tourism since there is a growing interest in the ABC islands in Italy even in these difficult times.

It is remarkable that Italy is the only country outside Caracas that still has a foreign representative in Venezuela and that Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao are the only islands that still depend on a consulate general located in that country. Consul Petito has promised to visit our islands more often in the future.
