WILLEMSTAD - Epidemiologist Dr. Izzy Gerstenbluth received the Cola Debrot prize on Wednesday evening. The presentation was presented by Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas and the Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports (OWCS) Sithree van Heydoorn.

The Cola Debrot prize is the highest award in Curaçao and is awarded annually on the birthday of poet, writer and minister Cola Debrot. Gerstenbluth receives the prize for his work in the field of science and his efforts during the corona pandemic in Curaçao. The prize consists of a gold pin representing an orange apple, a certificate and 5,000 guilders.
In addition to family and friends, various politicians were present at the ceremony in the Curaçao Museum. The Representative of the Netherlands in Curaçao, Erwin Arkenbout, congratulated Gerstenbluth with the prestigious award.
