WILLEMSTAD - The popular restaurant Jaanchie’s is open again. The restaurant located in the Westpunt area is now open every day in the afternoon. With Curaçao on code yellow, Jaanchie’s hopes to be able to receive more tourists.
At the moment, the restaurant mainly receives local visitors during the weekend. Last week Jaanchies was in the news because the restaurant was about to close due to financial problems. Since then, a fundraiser has been launched through a GoFundMe page. The counter there is now at 14,000 euros with the goal of reaching 50,000 euros.
The corona crisis played a major role in the restaurant's financial troubles. Owner Jan Christiaan also admits that he should have had his administration in better order. Christiaan hopes to get things in order with help and keep his restaurant running.
