WILLEMSTAD - Today, the appeal hearing of the Maximus case begins. The suspect is former Minister of Finance George Jamaloodin, who was previously sentenced to 27 years in prison for his involvement in the murder of the popular political leader and former Member of Parliament Helmin Magno Wiels. He was assassinated on May 5, 2013.
The case is being held in the Navy Barracks in Suffisant. Seven session days are scheduled.
The reason for a different location is that the Court does not have the capacity to reserve a room for that long without disrupting the planning of other court cases.
