WILLEMSTAD - Doctor Jerry Semper will resign as head of the vaccination program on August 31, the medical professional informed.
The GP was appointed as medical coordinator in March 2021 in collaboration with epidemiologist Iralice Jansen. It is remarkable that Semper has been less visible as a coordinator in recent months, he admits. “It is up to the government who they have to deliver which message.”
Semper hopes that even more people will be vaccinated against the corona virus. He indicates that it is difficult to convince a significant percentage of the population.
According to the GP, the choice for the corona vaccine remains up to the people themselves. "The fact is that they have been provided with all the correct information for months to make a choice," says Semper. He encourages people to continue the conversation.
The doctor hopes that people will not get the short straw because they are too late to vaccinate. Semper fears new variants of the coronavirus. "Maybe the Delta variant is just a warning of what this virus is capable of."
It is not known whether there will be a successor for Semper as coordinator of the vaccination process.
