Jonny Andersen Appointed New CEO of Aruba Airport

Local | By Correspondent January 21, 2026

ORANJESTAD - Aruba Airport has appointed Jonny Andersen as its new Chief Executive Officer, bringing an end to a leadership vacancy that has lasted since the summer of 2024.

The Aruban airport had been without a permanent CEO following the departure of Joost Meijs, who stepped down after five years in the role. During the interim period, former director James Fazio, who previously led the airport between 2013 and 2019, returned to manage operations on a temporary basis.

With the appointment of Andersen, Aruba Airport secures an experienced airport executive with an extensive international background. Over the past two years, he served as CEO of Curaçao Airport, where he oversaw airport operations and development. Prior to that, Andersen held senior management positions with the Norwegian airport operator Avinor, as well as at the airport of Nairobi. His career also includes leadership roles at several airlines, including airBaltic and Widerøe.

Aruba Airport indicated that Andersen’s broad experience in both airport management and airline operations positions him well to lead the airport through its next phase, as it continues to focus on operational excellence, connectivity, and long-term growth.
