THE HAGUE, WILLEMSTAD - A definitive decision will be made on 5 July whether Curacao will be given a budgetary instruction or not. Both the governments of Curacao and the Netherlands made this announcement last week.
At the beginning of April, the Cft already recommended an instruction and the concept was ready last week. Yet it has been decided not to give the instruction. This is because Undersecretary of Kingdom Relations Raymond Knops understands the impact that the situation in Venezuela has on Curaçao.
Curaçao must now implement structural reforms that will make the country's financial situation “more stable and better. Together with the Netherlands, work is underway in the coming weeks on an agreement that should be ready on July 5. A final decision is taken on the same day about the budgetary instruction.
