Justice Minister Meets With Unions Over Labor Concerns at Law Enforcement and Security Training Institute

Local | By Correspondent January 14, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – Minister of Justice Shalten Hato held a meeting yesterday afternoon with representatives of the labor unions SAP, STRAF, NAPB, and ABVO to discuss employment-related concerns affecting civil servants working at the Law Enforcement and Security Training Institute (ORV).

The meeting took place in an open and constructive atmosphere, allowing all parties to share their perspectives. Union representatives and staff members received additional clarification on several issues for which they had requested more information, including the institute’s current situation and the steps expected going forward.

One of the main concerns raised by the unions was the continued absence of a formal job classification system for the institute. According to the unions, this lack of clarity creates uncertainty among employees regarding their roles, career development, and job security.

Minister Hato listened carefully to the concerns presented and reiterated his commitment to ongoing dialogue with the unions. He emphasized the importance of working together toward a sustainable solution that ensures clarity, employment security, and respect for the rights of public servants.

Discussions are expected to continue as the Ministry of Justice and labor organizations work toward long-term solutions to address structural labor issues at the Law Enforcement and Security Training Institute.
