Kingdom Council of Ministers to hold emergency meeting over Venezuela situation

Local | By Correspondent January 6, 2026

THE HAGUE – The Kingdom Council of Ministers will convene in an emergency session on Friday in response to the recent developments in Venezuela and their potential impact on the Caribbean part of the Kingdom.

Agendas of meetings of the Kingdom government are not published in advance, meaning it is unclear whether Friday’s discussions will focus solely on security concerns or whether possible economic consequences for the Caribbean territories will also be addressed. It is likewise not known at whose initiative the decision was made to hold the additional meeting.

The developments in Venezuela have raised concerns across the Kingdom, particularly because of the proximity of Aruba, Curaçao, and Bonaire to the South American country. Recent events have already led to temporary disruptions in air traffic and increased attention to regional security and stability.

Further details about the outcomes of the emergency meeting are expected to be released after the Kingdom Council of Ministers has concluded its deliberations.
