WILLEMSTAD - Dutch Undersecretary of Kingdom Relations Raymond Knops is cautiously optimistic about the negotiations with the new government in Willemstad. Last weekend, Knops and Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas visited Banda Bou, the western side of the island.

Negotiations between the countries and parliaments are also still in full swing. Knops says that, based on the current course, it should be possible that an agreement can be reached. The Netherlands has provided around 800 million guilders in liquidity support since the start of the corona pandemic. Curaçao is now awaiting the sixth tranche, which can only be given if the conditions of the Netherlands can be met. This includes the Caribbean Agency for Reform and Development, or the COHO.
