Knops: Curaçao must meet conditions

Local | By Correspondent March 29, 2021

THE HAGUE - Curaçao is currently no longer eligible for further liquidity support from the Netherlands. Undersecretary Raymond Knops has pointed out to the current, outgoing government that the legislation for a 25% reduction in the total package of employment conditions for ministers and members of Parliament had to be approved before 1 January 2021.

Legislation on the salary limitation of top official requirements in government companies and a 12.5% reduction on the package of employment conditions for civil servants has also not yet been implemented. As long as that does not happen, Curaçao cannot claim more loans.

According to the Financial Supervision Board (Cft), Curaçao does not currently need loans. The Cft states that Curaçao still has sufficient resources for the second quarter of 2021.
