Knops: “Exceptional if dispute settlement decision is not followed”

Local | By Correspondent July 3, 2019

THE HAGUE - The Undersecretary for Kingdom Relations Raymond Knops says that only in exceptional cases would the Dutch government not follow the advice of the Council of State.

In Knops legislative proposal, the Council of State decides if there is a dispute between the islands and the Netherlands. The Undersecretary believes that the Kingdom Council of Ministers should always be able to make a decision independently.

The islands and some parties in the Dutch parliament want a dispute resolution to be binding.
