WILLEMSTAD - Civil servants who go on strike without officially requesting a day off will see this on their salary slip at the end of the month. In a circular, Minister Armin Konket writes that civil servants who go on strike without notifying their supervisors will see a deduction in their salary.
When paying the salaries, the principle of "no work, no pay" will be applied and the unauthorized absenteeism working hours will be deducted from salaries, Konket said in the letter of 14 August to the staff. According to the minister, this also applies to police officers.
According to Konket, it regularly happens that a civil servant does not request permission from his or her supervisor to take time off. The hours are classified as "unauthorized absence".
