WILLEMSTAD - Korpodeko marked a major milestone this week as the organization celebrated its 40th anniversary and officially introduced Omar De Souza as its new Director General. The celebration took place on the evening of December 4 during a special gathering with partners and clients, highlighting four decades of structural contributions to Curaçao’s social and economic development.

During the ceremony, speakers reflected on Korpodeko’s legacy and its longstanding role in supporting local entrepreneurs and strengthening the island’s economic resilience. A moment of special recognition was dedicated to employee Dionna Maria, who was honored for 35 years of dedicated service.
As the central event of the evening, the organization announced the appointment of Omar De Souza as the new Director General. In his address, De Souza expressed gratitude for the trust placed in him and emphasized his commitment to advancing Korpodeko’s mission. He outlined several strategic priorities, including expanding the institution’s green financing portfolio, strengthening partnerships with government and private stakeholders, increasing training and capacity-building programs for entrepreneurs, and investing in the development of local talent.
De Souza also publicly thanked Gerald Statie, who previously served as interim leader and helped reinforce the organization’s financial stability during a critical period.
Korpodeko’s leadership expressed full confidence in its new direction, reaffirming that the institution will remain a cornerstone of national development and a reliable partner for Curaçao’s business community.
