WILLEMSTAD - KTK’s tugboat Barakuda recently left for Trinidad under the command of Captain Rendell Victor. KTK Barakuda joins Mero, a tugboat that has been in Trinidad since February of this year, to support the activities of the state-owned National Energy Corporation or Trinidad & Tobago Ltd. (NEC).
In August 2018, KTK and NEC signed a MoU in which both companies expressed their intentions to join forces strategically to support each other and also to explore new commercial opportunities in the region.
The new contract means that the tug assistance will take place during tug operations in various ports of Trinidad & Tobago for a period of three months. For the duration of the contract a captain and a KTK engine driver will remain on board the Barakuda.
KTK Barakuda is a modern tugboat with a towing capacity of 60 tons, built by DAMEN in 2010. On board, apart from captain Rendell Victor and helmsman Ethelree Rellum, are the engine drivers Clinton Janga and André Howell as well as the sailors Morandy Martina and Irvan Turner, who operate the boat in the direction of Trinidad & Tobago.
