WILLEMSTAD - The land registry will again measure the boundaries on the coast of Jeremi. This was announced by Minister Charles Cooper of Traffic, Transport and Spatial Planning.

The reason is the commotion that has arisen around the development of Jeremi Ocean Resort. The owner of the site has taken a large bite out of the coast in order to gain direct access to the sea. Cooper states that in principle he cannot do anything about a private property.

As far as is known, parliament has not expressed its opinion on the granting of the coastal strip near Jeremi to a project developer or private legal entity.

Parliamentary permission via a national ordinance is necessary if private individuals want to take possession of the beaches. Permission is not necessary only if they can prove that the land was acquired before 2001.
