WILLEMSTAD - Landhuis Bloemhof will start a fundraising for the Ronald McDonald House Charities Curacao (RMHC) on April 20. The RMHC normally helps families with children in the hospital, but currently provides free meals to nurses and other hospital care personnel who are severely overloaded due to the influx of Covid-19 patients.
Many healthcare workers must work double shifts and overtime because of the current situation. "It is almost impossible to take care of yourself anymore. The RMHC ensures that there is at least a hot meal," says Landhuis Bloemhof.
Bloemhof will sell life circles, which can contribute to the cost of meals for health care workers. The circles of life were made in 2019 by more than 75 volunteers during workshops that were held as part of the exhibition Ban Serio! from Michèle Russel-Capriles. Various medical recycling materials have been used to make smaller and larger works of art from the circles.
The circles of life are available in seven different sizes. From small (diameter 4 inches) to large (diameter 24 inches). In the week of April 20, Landhuis Bloemhof will put a series of life circles online every day.
