WILLEMSTAD - The organization ProMonumento (ProMo) has filed a lawsuit against the construction project "The Wharf" that is planned at the Kleine Werf in Willemstad.

ProMo has started a case against the building permit granted by the Ministry of Traffic, Transport and Spatial Planning. The Wharf is a project with 35 apartments, restaurants and parking. The modern-looking buildings do not fit in with the existing architecture of the historic city center.
The city center is on the World Heritage List of Unesco. This means, among other things, that new buildings must match the historic style.
In the past, ProMo has often agitated against inappropriate architectural styles in the historic center.
