WILLEMSTAD - A punishment for the former spokesman of the Public Prosecutor Norman Serphos is out of place. That's is according to his lawyer Olga Kostrzewski. Serphos has been sentenced to a 60-hour suspended sentence for filing a false complaint.
According to his lawyer, no one has ever been prosecuted in Curaçao for filing a false complaint. In the Netherlands, the penalties for such an offense are much lower, says Kostrzewski.
According to the counselor, Serphos admitted to having posted the comments and subsequently filing a false complaint about this. He would have done this out of fear because of death threats directed at him.
