WILLEMSTAD - Minister of Social Development, Labor and Welfare Hensley Koeiman yesterday explicitly denied that the extension of the lease contract from his ministry was a service to friends.
The parliament met on the subject. Koeiman received many questions about the extension of the expensive building in Punda that has already had many defects. According to the minister, the lease extension is good for the employees of his ministry and there is nothing strange about it.
The union representing the civil servants filed a lawsuit against the government to force the ministry to seek a different location. According to the union, the buildings Tauber and La Ganga in downtown Punda, where the ministry is located are not suitable for the employees.
The fire brigade also indicated that the buildings are not suitable. Even after these complaints, the minister still signed a new lease contract.
