WILLEMSTAD - The legendary local singer Ced Ride has passed away. Cedric Ridderplaat, as his real name was, was active in show business for more than sixty years. In it he only sang in Papiamento, also at international festivals.

He wrote many famous songs, such as Kupido, Buchi Fiel and Mi'n Ke Bo Mas. In addition to being a singer, he was also active as a poet and artist. During his career he received numerous awards.
Just two weeks ago, at Dia di Bandera (Flag Day), he was awarded the Cross of Merit. Ced Ride passed away yesterday, on his birthday. He was 77 years old.
