AMSTERDAM - Traveling to Curaçao around the Christmas period turns out to be less popular than expected. Both TUI and KLM have received many bookings after Prime Minister Mark Rutte announced last week that the Caribbean part of the Kingdom is not covered by the negative travel advice for the Netherlands. But the bookings of TUI airline are currently only half of the number of bookings during the Christmas period last year. KLM is also well below last year's bookings.
However, the number of flights will be increased by both TUI and KLM around the Christmas period. At the moment TUI flies six times a week to Curaçao, during the Christmas period this will be expanded to ten flights a week. KLM currently operates daily in Curaçao. This will be increased in the period around Christmas and New Year's Eve.
