WILLEMSTAD - The assets of the Curaçao company Antillephone NV that trades in sub-licenses for online gambling games have been seized for 1.3 million guilders. The bailiff who carried out the lien did so at the request of the Stichting Belangenbehartiging Geduperden Online Gambling (SBGOK), which had received permission from the court.
The foundation acts on behalf of a client who has a large claim on the Curaçao-based webcasino Holiganbet.com in unpaid prize money. The company operating the site is managed by George Zinnicq Bergmann's trust office Emoore and operates based on a sub-license granted by Antillephone NV of Rob Vermeulen.
Gambling site operators are difficult to address directly as they usually hide behind trust offices. In this case, the trust office concerned refuses to provide an explanation for the blocking of the player's account preventing him from accessing his money. Reason why SBGOK has chosen to hold licensee Antillephone liable because the casino operator acts under its license.
