Major differences in prices at supermarkets

Local | By Correspondent October 9, 2019

WILLEMSTAD - The price differences in Curacao supermarkets are huge. This became known after a survey conducted by the consumer association.

The differences are particularly large with meat and cold cuts. A kilo of goat meat at Centrum Supermarket costs 9.95 guilders and at Arti’s 21.95. A kilo of steak is about 26 guilders at Centrum Supermarket and 9 guilders less at Esperamos Supermarket. Prices have also changed a lot since the last survey in June: at Boulevard, a kilo of Gouda cheese still cost 17.95 in June and now 26.95.

For cheaper cheese, consumers are better off at Vreugdenhil Supermarket, a kilo cost 12.95.
